2QB Dynasty Top 200 Overall Rankings: September 2018

Alright, friends, this is it. Here are the definitive, not-to-be-questioned, top 200 dynasty players for your two-quarterback leagues.

For anyone following these monthly rankings since March, you may have noticed the slow crawl to the top for some of this year’s rookies. Saquon Barkley (RB7) always had his place near the top, of course, and a season-ending injury to Derrius Guice (RB43) and concerns about Rashaad Penny’s (RB25) weight and health have helped push Royce Freeman (RB15) to the number two position in terms of rookie running backs for 2018.

As the offseason progressed, I found myself more and more entranced by the potential impact of this year’s rookie WR class. DJ Moore (WR21), Anthony Miller (WR33), Christian Kirk (WR34), Michael Gallup (WR38), and Calvin Ridley (WR39) all appear to be on a clear path to being their respective team’s number two receiver. I wouldn’t be shocked if most of them takeover No. 1 WR duties by next season.

The quarterback position is where I was the least generous with my rookie rankings, much to the displeasure of a vocal few (thanks for reading, btw). Of my three-year window when considering these rankings, quarterback was where I looked the longest. Josh Rosen (QB24) and Baker Mayfield (QB26) face immediate backup duties, behind serviceable quarterbacks with unstable track records, but have QB2 potential if they receive significant playing time this season. Sam Darnold (QB28) and Josh Allen (QB31) appear to be front-runners to start with their teams, however, Darnold’s complete lack of support and Allen’s Josh-Allen-ness have me hesitant to rely on them as a fantasy QB2 this season. Finally, Lamar Jackson (QB30), who I’m rooting hard for, has the path of most resistance as a backup to Joe Flacco (QB32), but is someone I think could easily surpass Darnold and Allen if given the same opportunities.

Many thanks to everyone who has followed along all offseason. I wish you all luck in your remaining drafts and in forming your future dynasties.

P.S. Don’t forget to buy the 2018 TwoQBs Draft Guide.

  • Two questions:

    1) you seem low on Zeke and DJ? Any reason why they don’t make your top 5?

    2) what puts Wentz over Rodgers?

    • For Zeke, my concern is really about the offense as a whole and whether or not Dak and the limited receiving options on that side of the ball. Would feel a lot better about him if I felt there was at least one, plus-option in the passing game. It’s a bit of the same thing for DJ. I like Rosen as a QB long-term, which helps, but want to know more about Kirk’s actual affect on the offense and how DJ returns from injury.

Regarding Wentz vs Rodgers, I’ll admit that I might be giving way to age a little bit here (even though these are still dynasty rankings). Both missed time with injury last year, but I’m simply more concerned with Rodgers, given his injury history and age, than I am with Wentz. Basically, if I had to pay to insure one of these great dynasty QB options, who do I think is lower risk? For me, its Wentz at the moment.
